Join us and give your over all support in our programs to reach the goal of YWCA. Following areas are in great need of people who can work and support us.
I. Peer Support Program (Nanbar Kootam)
This program was introduced by BRIDGES, YWCA with a goal to bring awareness about HIV/AIDS and also the needs of their less fortunate friends affected and Infected by HIV in the community and to solicit their participation for our work in reaching out to these children. The basic concept is Catch them Young and instill in them a sense of social responsibility which is very feasible and realistic, as these Community children will have a chance to gain information on Life skills and also see social work, in action as well as participate in the process. A child is a child’s best friend and this program can bring a new lease of life into many CAA/CIA's life.
This program had a very successful start with a total of 27 Children with good leadership skill, trained in Life Skills. Local community members especially their parents were taken into confidence first, who are being very responsive to-wards supporting for this cause of Children affected and Infected with HIV. This program is presently operating in only two of our intervention sites. Today we have 270 children who not only devote their time and energy for the cause, but also help us to collect small donations in cash and kind from their Peers in schools and neighborhood. This is just a new beginning!
II. Community Child Care Committees---a Volunteer Initiative
Over last 2½ years, YWCA- BRIDGES has treaded a long way in the service of the CAA/ CIA. It is helping around 2150 OVC children through the BRIDGES and its allied programs. Today our Children are living with care and respect in their Communities and distant families.
This Committee consists of individuals or stakeholders from different walks of Life with power and position who volunteers to generate support in cash and kind for the CAA/CIA in the BRIDGES Programs.
